National Training Awards 2011

HTP Training was recently named as the winner of the South East National Training Award in the Medium Sized Employer category as the result of its commitment and investment in the development of the company's own trainers.

HTP recruits training facilitators from industry to ensure they have expertise in, and understanding of their clients’ businesses, work pressures and training needs. It then provides support and training to further develop their skills as training consultants and facilitators. One of the business’ core aims is to increase participation and attainment to high-quality training, and it therefore recognises that development of staff is critical for the organisation's continued growth. All training staff are required to hold a Level 5 teaching qualification thus enabling them to gain Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status.

Following the success of the initiative, HTP is now accredited as a centre to run the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

HTP's Managing Director Rachael Fidler says:

"Although the Level 5 qualification continues to exceed legislative requirements I remain firmly committed to providing staff with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge to this level. Whilst the DTLLS training represents a significant investment, financially and in terms of time away from the job for participants and their coaches and mentors, the benefits for the organisation far outweigh the costs. Raising the level of knowledge and skills of staff has had a direct result on success rates of delegates across all programmes which are now significantly above national averages and this has led to HTP being invited to participate in a number of Ofsted thematic studies to identify and share best practice across the industry.”
