What is an Apprenticeship?

An Apprenticeship is a structured programme of work based learning leading to a nationally recognised qualification for people aged 16 - 24.

Apprenticeships can be undertaken a wide range of occupational areas and HTP offer them in:

• Hospitality & Catering
• Retail
• Hairdressing and Nail Services
• Business Administration
• Customer Service

Working with an Employer, you'll learn the skills and building up the knowledge required as you go along. Obviously, as you are working you also get paid!

The Apprenticeship framework is made up of a number of qualifications including:

• A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 2 or 3
• Appropriate Industry Qualifications - EG. Food Safety Certificate for Chefs
• Key Skills qualifications - Maths, English and IT (You may be exempt if you achieve Grades C or above in GCSE Maths and / or English)
• Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) - this training will make you aware of the basics of Employment Law, Discrimination Acts and your responsibilities to both yourself and the company you work for.
