Training to a higher level

A clean sweep of outstanding success for HTP

Friday 6th March 2009

To be graded as Outstanding by Ofsted is exceptional.  To be awarded Outstanding Grade 1 in every area of the business is truly an amazing achievement.

HTP, one of the largest work-based Training Providers in the South East, has been recognised by Ofsted as an Outstanding Provider in all areas of its business.  It is believed that HTP is the first independent training provider in the country to achieve a clean sweep of Outstanding Grade ones in their Ofsted inspection (November 2008).

The report states that the overall effectiveness of the provision is outstanding. Achievement and standards and the quality of provision are both outstanding, as are provision in retail and commercial enterprise, business, administration and law and Entry to Employment. Leadership and management and the company’s approach to equality of opportunity are outstanding. Support for all learners is outstanding as are the arrangements for meeting the needs and interests of learners, and partnership arrangements with employers and external agencies. HTP has outstanding capacity to improve. Since it was last inspected, overall success rates for apprenticeships have continued to improve each year

This week Rachael Fidler, HTPs founder and Managing Director received a congratulatory letter from Christine Gilbert, Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector which states:

“The judgement of outstanding means that your setting is exceptional and significant elements of your work are exemplary.  I do not underestimate the considerable hard work, expertise and commitment it takes to achieve outstanding provider status. In addition to my congratulations, my thanks for all you are doing to raise standards across the sector and indeed, to improving lives”.

Rachael Fidler, HTP Managing Director says,

“This is a fantastic result for all associated with HTP.  Our ethos has always been to provide the best possible training for our individual learners and employers - Ofsted is a tough test but by gaining Grade One, Outstanding across the board, we hope we will signal to our clients - Learners, Employers and Schools - that HTP is committed to delivering training of the highest quality. I am very proud of the team’s performance, not just during inspection, but for the months and years before hand.  The inspectors were particularly impressed with how the company has developed and the contribution the staff have made to this.  Of course there is always work to be done and we will continue to work hard to ensure we provide the training and services our clients need locally, regionally and nationally”.

HTP’s growth and results since it was established on the Isle of Wight in 2000 is a fantastic example of what can be achieved with determination and hard work.  Starting with a team of three staff in 2000 HTP now employs nearly 100 training specialists across the South East delivering work-based training in Hospitality, Management, Customer Service, Business Administration, Retail and Entry to Employment. The staff take great pride in their achievements and to be awarded nine Grade 1 results is testimony to their hard work and commitment.
